Leadership
Renewable Energy Partners is led by Dr Steve Freeman, an offshore wind and marine strategist. With more than 30 years’ experience, he specialises in early-stage development, stakeholder engagement, environmental assessment and consents across offshore wind, green hydrogen and emerging technologies.
Steve advises senior executives, developers, investors, and governments on turning complex ambition into delivery – providing strategic guidance, hands-on technical assurance and independent review on projects where clarity and precision make the difference.
He has held leadership and advisory roles on major offshore wind developments across the UK, Europe, Asia and the Americas, offering whole-system insight into risk, strategy and decision assurance. His work connects policy, planning and delivery – helping clients move from strategy to results with clarity and confidence.
His career includes global secondments to leading energy firms and the co-founding of the Renewables Consulting Group (RCG), recognised with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise.
He has also served in board, chair and non-executive positions across the public and private sectors, bringing governance experience and strategic perspective to a wide range of complex energy projects.
Steve holds a PhD in Marine Biology and formal training in Energy Law and Policy, grounding his approach in evidence-based rigour and pragmatic application.
